- praying when you’d rather do or say something else. better yet, you can ask a friend to pray with you.
- saying no to something you know isn’t God-honoring and then explaining why. For ex, “no, that would hurt the most important relationship in my life - my relationship with Jesus.
- Listening well to a friend’s problem and then answering with an example of how God has dealt with the same or similar issue in their own life.
- asking forgiveness of those you hurt, instead of simply offering an apology. (and say ” I forgive you” when others apologize to you.) This opens up an opportunity to tell people about God’s forgiveness.
- paying more attention to God’s claims on their lives than to their claims on God (in other words, thinking and talking more about what God might want them to do than what they want God to do for them).
- speaking up in defense of Jesus when others (including teachers) want to write him off.
Underlying all these ideas is a foundation of expressing faith in Christ - a lost emphasis and art for today’s Christian teenagers. It’s time to reclaim it.
